A Pure Free Market Would Quickly Revive the Economy
Suppose that instead of their massive spending, bailouts, and subsidies, governments at all levels declared a state of freedom. In a pure free market, the economy would thrive because doing business would have much lower costs and much greater rewards. People want to work and produce, but barriers imposed by government stop them. All that is really needed to get the economy going again is to stop interfering with what folks want to do. (Mon, 9 Mar 2009)
Respond to Medical Pot Raids with Legalization
Activists are outraged over President Obama's raid of Emmalyn's California Cannabis Clinic in San Francisco, but they should not be surprised. This episode should remind liberal pot activists of the potentially despotic power involved in tax collection. Short of exempting medical marijuana from sales tax altogether, California should legalize marijuana, leave its regulation to the market, and, for now, treat it like any other retail good in terms of tax law. (Mon, 6 Apr 2009)

The Honorable John Inks is our featured individual this issue. John was recently sworn in as a city council member in Mountain View, a city of around 80,000 and the home to Google, nestled next to the bay in the Silicon Valley.
John has been working towards this goal for some time, having served on the Parks and Recreation committee, running for the city council and falling short by just a few hundred votes, then serving on the Environmental Planning Commission first as a member then as president. Congratulations to John, and to the citizens of Mountain View.
John will be one of our featured speakers at the annual convention to be held April 24 to 26.
