Libertarian Party of California Voting Recommendations
The Libertarian Party recommendations for the statewide ballot propositions, and a list of California Libertarian candidates for state, local, and federal office have been posted on the world wide web:
Get Out and Vote!
If you have not already voted, please do so on election day. Here are some reasons to get out and vote:
Sometimes elections are close and just a few votes make the difference. For example, last year the LP sent out postcards to about 300 Libertarians in a city council race, and the candidate we supported won by just 7 votes. A local bond issue we opposed was passed this spring by just 1 vote.
In this election, for example, it appears that Prop. 8, the proposed constitutional amendment to take legal rights away from gay people, is going to be very close. Libertarians could make the difference in its defeat.
- You can elect Libertarians to public office
We have candidates in several very close local races this year that definitely are winnable. Electing Libertarians to the county board of supervisors, city council, school board, or a special district board allows us to directly influence public policy now, while paving the way for electing Libertarians to partisan office in California in a few years.
- Your vote sends a message
Let's face it: Bob Barr is not likely to carry the state of California. Neither is John McCain, for that matter. But, votes for Barr will get noticed. The more votes he gets the stronger the LP message of personal liberty and responsibility will be advanced and the stronger the LP will become. Ditto for all the other Libertarian partisan candidates, from state assembly to U.S. Congress.

Election Calendar
Vote By Mail & Early Voting Began: October 6, 2008

Election Day: Tuesday, November 4, 2008
Polls Open by 7 AM on November 4th and close at 8 PM.
Make sure to arrive early at the polls. Polling stations may be very busy this day as turnout will probably be heavy for this Presidential election and lines will be long.
Mail ballots must be received by your County Registrar's office or any polling station in your County by the time polls close. Ballots postmarked on or before November 4 but received after that date will not be accepted by the Registrar!
