What do the origin codes in the inquiry records mean?

The code currently begins with one of the following:

LP	general LP activity
LP HQ	activity managed by LP national office
LP xx	a state or local LP activity in state xx
ASG	Advocates for Self-Government

The remainder of the code indicates the method of contact and is currently one of the following:

WWW	World Wide Web
800	800-number call
PHONE	some other kind of phone call
EMAIL	an e-mail message
EVENT	fair, rally, meeting or other event
CAMPAIGN	referred by an LP campaign for public office
REFER	personal referral
OTHER	something else or unknown

So, for example:

LP HQ 800	means from the national 800-number
ASG WWW	means from the Advocates' WWW site
LP NY EVENT	means from some local event in New York

Note: If you have a program automatically processing these records, you should not assume that these are the only possibilities, since others may be added in the future. Make sure your program treats unknown codes as some kind of "other" category.

In some cases there will be additional information about the source of the inquiry in other fields. For example, records which result from 800-number calls sometimes include a note that the person was calling in response to a radio show.
